Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I'm raising funds on behalf of the Butterwick Hospice and completed the Great North Run in 2010, and will be taking part again in 2011. Oh yes, I skydived from an aeroplane at 12,000 ft in April reaching a speed of 137mph (see a few of my pics). Absolutely brilliant experience.

I'm raising funds by offering my services as a builder and all profits will go to my campaign. So, if you're wanting any joinery, plastering, tiling or small plumbing and brickwork jobs doing then give me a shout. Did I mention that I can do painting and decorating too? Additionally, I've been attending country fairs and community events and making bird boxes and bug hotels with families.

I'm also organising a band night at Thornaby Sports & leisure Club on August 5th. There's 2 great bands on (Phil Harvey and Modern Works) and the chance to win some great prizes including the chance to watch Middlesbrough Football Club in a corporate box at a game of the winner's choice!

The bulk of my fundraising activity will be to undertake a strenuous trek at altitude to Machu Picchu in Peru. The Peru trip will also involve 2 days helping out local communities undertake a development project. I wanted to help Butterwick Hospice because of the great and caring work that they do, especially with children.

Butterwick Hospice Care aims to improve the quality of life for those who have a progressive life limiting illness and those close to them. To offer positive support for every challenge they may encounter during their illness and to see death as part of life's journey. A life limiting illness changes everything, moves all the parameters in your life and the lives of those around you. Butterwick Hospice Care intends to be there for those in this situation and to listen, guide and support the patients and their family. Adult patients are cared for at facilities based in Stockton and Bishop Auckland. Butterwick House Children's Hospice, also located in Stockton, was the first of its kind in the North East and is still the only one accepting children from birth to 19 and providing end of life care. Admissions are made from Teesside, North Yorkshire, County Durham and Wearside.
