Barton Willmore, now Stantec is raising money for Young Epilepsy
Story
The team at Barton Willmore, now Stantec will once again be heading to the hills and taking on a formidable challenge. In doing so, they hope to raise awareness and much needed funds to support Young Epilepsy - the children's epilepsy charity that helps transform the lives of young people with epilepsy and other neurological disorders by coordinating research that improves diagnosis and treatment, supporting young people in school and college, and offering cutting-edge health services.
The 12 Lakeland Fells Challenge involves scaling 12 of the Cumbrian Fells between Langdale, Borrowdale, Ennerdale and Wasdale in a single day. The planned route will see the team start and finish at Old Dungeon Ghyll, between which they will tick off 12 summits, attain around 3500m of elevation gain, while clocking-in a distance of over 40km .
For some in the team this challenge will be particularly close to heart, with young loved-ones suffering from or displaying signs of epilepsy or other non-communicable neurological disorders. Whilst not of the same magnitude of the challenge that the parents, carers and young people suffering with Epilepsy themselves may face during their diagnosis, education and healthcare journey, by carrying out this challenge the team hope to shine a light on the fabulous work and support that Young Epilepsy provide on a daily basis.
