Story
In September 2019 our son James, now 8, was diagnosed with autism. We have been learning how best to support him in living in a world which was designed for the neurotypical and to develop strategies to cope with the everyday things he struggles with. And then the global pandemic turned everyone’s lives upside down but his more than most - at times it has been heartbreaking to see the impact on him and his mental health and well-being.
Thankfully, every cloud has a silver lining - and finding Autism Angels has been that silver lining for us. This amazing charity enables children like James to spend time with the most beautiful horses in the most peaceful environment. Seeing the sheer joy being there brings James is magical - when he is there we see the best side of him, the side you see when he doesn’t have a care in the world and can just be himself.
Like all charities Autism Angels have struggled this year and so Ian and I decided that we’d like to try and raise some money to support them and enable them to help more children like James. So in December we will both be aiming to run every day - either 3miles or 25 minutes, whichever comes first - juggling it around work and two children is going to be fun - but we are fired up and ready to go! Any donation you can give, no matter how small, will make a difference. Thank you.
