Story

On the 2nd October 2021 team 'The Overlanding Ambulance' (comprising Lawrence Dodi, Rachel Nixon and Peggy Sue the travel spaniel) will be leaving home in Liverpool, England to complete a drive of over 100,000 kilometres to get back home again.

The journey will be in 'Amber' a Land Rover Defender Ambulance that has been converted into an expedition vehicle. The plan is to perform a true global circumnavigation and in doing so gain the Guinness World Record for the 'longest journey in an ambulance'.

The exact route will change but the hope is to travel through many European countries, Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia), East Asia (South Korea, Japan), Australasia (Australia, New Zealand) and then up South America (Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil, Paraguay) before finishing in Liverpool in Uruguay.

From somewhere in South America 'Amber' will be put on a boat to sail her home thus completing the loop.

Follow the expedition's progress via the website (www.overlandingambulance.com), on Instagram & Facebook (@theoverlandingambulanceand YouTube (coming soon). Through undertaking this adventure the hope is to raise awareness and money for two charities ... Anthony Nolan and Vet Life to allow them to continue their invaluable work.
