Story

Team : The Social – Distance is no Barrier pledge to get active and row/run/cycle 34 miles as a virtual team between the 1st December and the 8th December to raise money for The AHOY Centre!  We are

Ben Whittingham (PWC)
Linda Wales (SF)
Colin Maher (SF)
Gabrielle Lee (PWC)
Cheryl Broad (SF)
Andrew Dwyer (PWC)

The AHOY Centre is a charity changing the lives of disadvantaged, disabled and at-risk youths by building life skills through sailing and rowing. AHOY champions inclusivity and mental health awareness. They offer opportunities for disabled people to participate in activities and courses on an equal level.

Like many charities, the Coronavirus pandemic has caused the cancellation of major events and AHOY fell into this category mid-June where a decision was made to cancel their rowing challenges
for  2020, resulting in an expected loss of income of £400,000.

PWC, Salesforce and Tableau will be working as a team to complete a minimum of 34 miles each from the 1st December to the 8th December 2020 in support of the AHOY centre.

We are setting an ambitious target to raise £1,500
through our challenge 34 - this will support the cost of 2 full days for their Sailability programme.

Sailability welcomes disabled participants to experience the joys of rowing and sailing on the river Thames, whilst the charities inclusive environment and innovative land based activities encourage participants to develop soft and transferable skills which increase
confidence, communication and teamwork - helping them to live a more independent life.

AHOY have worked tirelessly to ensure they can remain open during the pandemic to provide a safe covid friendly environment and at a time where activities for vulnerable adults remain inaccessible within their community, the demand for their services are needed now more than ever.
