Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are taking part in the Bupa Great North Run (13.1 miles) on 19th September 2010 to raise money for & awareness of Alzheimer's disease, particularly in younger people.

Our motivation for running is my father (John), Angela, Emma & Sophie's grandfather, in recognition of what a remarkable man he is, caring for 2 wives for over 20 years of his life and in memory of Pauline.

My mother (Pauline) died age 58 in 1980; from the results of a fire she started in our family home after suffering from Alzheimer's for 10 years. My father remarried after Pauline's death and Barbara was diagnosed with vascular dementia over 10 years ago; we help him to care for Barbara in their annexe at our home.

Sadly, on the 15th September, Barbara passed away peacefully at home.

19th September.  We had an amazing day - very emotional but such a great experience. The race was really difficult but your support and thinking of the people we were running for kept us going!
