Story
On the 9th July I will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. The route is 24 miles long and takes in 3 mountains (Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) with a total of 5200ft of ascent! I will be aiming to complete the challenge within 12 hours.
In doing so I am hoping to raise money for the NHS and, more specifically, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. This is a cause close to my heart. They have looked after my wife and given her care and treatment since birth, due to her being born with a heart condition. Her most recent procedure was in 2020 when she successfully underwent a heart valve replacement operation. It never ceases to amaze me what they can do with all the technological advances in recent times. Operations aside, each and every year she requires regular annual check ups which include ECG's, Echo's, MRI scans and many many more!! If it has wires, sensors and monitors, my wife has had it!!
Their excellent care means my wife is here today, and is able to live a normal life. It was also their outstanding work that enabled us to safely have kids not too many years ago. I will be forever grateful for everything they have done for her and our family.
My wife is just one of so many who requires ongoing treatment. The NHS is massively underfunded, understaffed and in desperate need of support and resources to continue the amazing work they carry out each and every day.
Any donation you can spare, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated.
