Meet Tigger, a beautiful female who is just over 9 years old and
very friendly. Her foster carer calls her “Tigger Toes” as she is Polydactyly,so has extra toes on each paw.

 She came to be with us at the Oxford Branch when she was found in
someone’s garden, crying and unable to move.

It looked like she had been attacked by a dog and when X-rayed it
showed she had a dislocated hip. Once the vets had clipped her fur there were
several puncture marks and grazes, one of which was very deep.

On her front leg, she had a horrible open wound from getting her
leg stuck in her collar.

Of course we took her straight to our vets’ who worked to remove
the femoral head to stabilize her hip and cleaned all wounds.

The infection in Tigger’s hip wound had gone down to the bone and
so at this point the vets were not sure she would pull through.  She was
on pain relief and antibiotics The hip wound had to be debrided (the dead
tissue had to be removed so that healthy tissue could form)  .

We tried to heal her collar wound with a long course of
antibiotics and we nearly got there, but then the wound broke down again.  Two weeks ago we had to have the wound
debrided and stitched and at the moment it is looking stable. She was given an antibiotic  injection that lasts 14 days and she will need three injections to finish the course.

Tigger is such a friendly, loving cat who has been through so much pain and fear. So far, her vet bill has cost us in excess of £1,500.

We are run by volunteers and receive no government funding, so we have to rely heavily on the kindness of cat lovers to enable us to help cats like Tigger.
