Batten disease is a group of rare, progressive neurodegenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children & adults worldwide. The BDFA's Vision is to be the central point of excellence in the UK for supporting affected families funding research into a potential cure.

Story

I recently attended a charity dinner hosted by Ascot Insurance and I was very moved by one of the representatives from a charity that was being supported at the event. I have therefore decided to try to help raise more awareness and cash for the very worthy cause. Batten Disease is an illness that children in particular are susceptible to and is undoubtedly one of the most harrowing experiences any parent can go through. Ellen Bletsoe is a Trustee of The Batten Disease Family Association and mother of Laura who has Batten Disease.  Ellen spoke so eloquently at the charity dinner and to hear her  story is a very humbling experience . I was so touched by this that I wanted to help in some way support her cause so therefore really appreciate your support.

Thanks
