Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
My partner, Tim Hill, suffered from lymphoma cancer in 2007. He was lucky and survived but firmly believes that the measures he took by way of diet and exercise were instrumental in his recovery and provided a complementary and helpful addition to the conventional treatment he received in hospital. He didn’t know about CancerWise at that time but, having now discovered them, fully agrees with their values and wants to do as much as he can to support them in the service they offer to cancer patients.
The Chichester Dragon Boat Challenge 2017 gives us both an opportunity, with your help, to do just that. Tim’s Sunbeamers are a team of people who have joined with Tim to paddle a Dragon boat in the Challenge to raise money to support the tremendous work done by CancerWise.
At the same time, we’ll have plenty of fun taking part in the racing which
promises to be a very different sort of sailing for most of the team who are more used to racing in Itchenor Harbour than paddling a dragon boat. The team are a great bunch of people and both Tim and I would like to take this opportunity of publicly thanking them for their efforts in support of CancerWise.
CancerWise is a local, Chichester-based charity whose aim is to help patients suffering from cancer through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. Their services include providing information, emotional support, various therapies, counselling and practical lifestyle advice to cancer patients, families and carers in West Sussex and south-east Hampshire. It costs around £100,000 per year to provide their services, all of which has to be raised from voluntary fundraising, so relies on the support and generosity of the local community. We hope you will be able to support us and thank you for your consideration.
