Story

Firstly this is a secret from my husband, its his 30th birthday in february and as a result he will be doing a sky dive for charity. I have asked if he would do a sky dive he just doesnt know it will be soon. Dan Oliver will be joining him. please help to keep this a secret.

So as many of you know after 8 years of infertility issues and several losses our son Taylor was born at 30 weeks on the 1/10/15. Without the wonderful staff at treliske neonatal unit he wouldnt be the thriving 15 month old nutter we now have at home.

When he was born he was ventilated and cared for by the staff at treliske for 40 days after his birth. The support the staff gave not only our son but us was incredible.  They made a horrendous situation managable.

After Taylors discharge he caught a cold which progressed into viral meningitis. This is where the neonatal unit went above and beyond to keep our son alive. Taylor was just 36 weeks gestational age at this point. The staff both on the childrens ward and intensive care didnt have the experience or knowledge of a tiny baby. So the on duty staff nurse from the neonatal unit stayed with Taylor first on the childrens ward and then in intensive care before transfer to Bristol hopsital where he remained on intensive care for 6 days. While in Bristol Treliske Neonatal unit rang everyday to check on his progress and also to talk to us to check how we were. This was paticularly important to us when we were unsure if they would amputate  his leg, longest 3 days of our lives.

The neo natal unit provided us with 2 top of the range breast pumps. The first when he was born so unexpectedly. The second when we had our emergency transfer to bristol and I had nothing with me. All this is funded by donations. Please help us to give the unit additional funds so they can help other familys dreams come true and continue the exceptional standard of care they currently deliver.

The unit is the only one in cornwall and they deal with hundreds of babies being cared for there every year. This means nearly every family has had their assistance whether for an hour, a day or weeks.
