Sleepouts are a sponsored event where participants can get an insight into what street homelessness is like for the people who live like that everyday. They are designed to give an idea of what it's like to sleep rough without the risk.

Story

I took part in the very first sleepout 20 years ago and since then have managed a few more thanks to the encouragement of friends. Having worked with the homeless projects in the past I know that they offer positive help to people who need someone to be there for them at a time when they are at their most vulnerable. Anyone can become homeless. There but for the grace of God go I.

About the charity

Turning Tides, previously WCHP, believe that everyone has the right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We believe in showing those who need our help that the wider community are there to support them and to offer hope for a better future.
