Story
Only took 6.75 hours actually! Got a couple of blisters but otherwise felt fine if a little tired. I'd just like to thank everyone who supported me and donated both on and offline. Well done to all of you!
Well he made it! Very sore feet I'm told, but he made it in just 7.5 hours so not bad at all for an old geezer! Tucked into a welcome bowl of stovies at the end before having a well deserved glass of vino! A few blisters to contend with, but a very happy chappy! Home tomorrow sometime.....
I'm on my way........ was up early this morning for breakfast then made our way to Hampden. By the time 9am came, we were eager to set off. Led by Miss Scotland and Spud the Piper we marched out of Hampden. Just outside we got stopped for photos and step-daughter Emma was there to wish us all the best! It was good to get a bit of support at this stage. Got her to take a few photos with my camera so I've got one to put up on this site when I get home.
I've had to keep increasing my target, as you lot all keep giving me more money! What a buzz! Well, it's the day before the big walk and my bag is packed and I'm ready to go! Plasters, vaseline and baby powder - never before has my overnight bag contained such stuff! Wish I was at the start NOW!
Thanks to all of you who have supported me both on and off this page - what an amazing amount! I've GOT to do it!
I am joining others in the Tartan Army to walk for 26 miles from Hampden Park to Loch Lomond (THIS WEEKEND!!!!!!) to raise money for disadvantaged children in Scotland and overseas.
Sunday 11th April - another 12 miles walked on the Speyside Way with Donna. Pretty hot out there today so we're hoping it won't be as hot on Sunday. Still we had plenty to drink although the water got too warm. Must remember to buy running shorts! Just short walks at nights now to keep me supple for Sunday....... help!
So it's all over and what a day it was! I'd like to thank everyone who supported me and donated such a lot to this very worthy cause. I only got two blisters in the end so did not too bad at all. Early night though as we were all exhausted!
So far my training is going well. I'm doing a lot of local walking with daughter Donna and have walked two sections of the Speyside Way, one with Lorraine and one with Willie Gray and Campbell Docherty. No sign of blisters yet but I know I've a lot more to do to manage the 26 miles!
