Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I decided a while ago to raise money for Autism Networks and booked on to a lot of races. Most of the races have been cancelled owing to social distancing so I have taken some time to think how to raise some money for this amazing local charity. I have decided to run 750 miles between 1st May and 1st December 2020. I will post regular distance updates so you can see how far I have covered. To put this into context the last few months have seen me run no more than 40 to 50 miles a month.
I first met the volunteers at Autism Networks when I worked as a Funding Officer back in 2008 and I have seen first hand the impact their work has had on young people. It provides somewhere for families to attend, relax and build relationships with other families affected by Autism; whilst feeling secure that their children can be themselves without people making judgements about different behaviour.
The positive impact the centre has on the mental health of the users, plus the reduction in social isolation, increase in confidence and improved life chances is invaluable. From providing support and information, signposting and creating networks all the way through to organising activities, events and providing a drop in centre for young people to attend in safety with their families. I hope you can support me as I raise money for A.N.
Until the lockdown is over I will be running in accordance with the restrictions. Thank you x
