Many of you may know that Zara was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus at 8 months old.   While we did go through months of uncertainty and stress until she had her operation to fit her shunt, we made it through and she is now a happy and cheeky 6 year old. She's just started her 3rd year of school (year 2) and there have been no lasting effects. 

Shine is a charity that most people don't know much about - I know I didn't. However, it is an important resource for individuals and families living with Hydrocephalus and/or Spina Bifida.   

One of the most important areas Shine provides support for is children. Whether Shine is working with schools to better support their students or helping children understand their condition, these activities are invaluable.  I know that as Zara grows up, we'll need to explain in more detail about Hydrocephalus and the information provided by Shine will make this job a little bit easier. 

It would be great if you could make a small donation to help out this charity.  It's  a smaller charity that may not get as much press as some, but is equally important to those people who find themselves needing the support Shine provides. 

I am participating in Survival of the Fittest with 12 other women from the Busy Women's Fitness Project.  We're all not quite sure what we've gotten ourselves into, and  a little but nervous (read: terrified), but determined to finish the course for our chosen charities!
