Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Myself and Jimbob have decided to take part in quite a unique event of CAGED, yes you read correctly, CAGED BOXING. 3 x 2 min rounds.
Thanks to our friends at Combat Challenge who have allowed us to highjack their show for half an' hour to "put our dukes up" , the event will take place in Hartlepool's prestigious borough hall on the headland....on Saturday, 29th October 2016.
Me and Jim have both fought each other around half a dozen times in Jiujitsu competitions, with Jim being the victor in most of those bouts so this gives me an opportunity to 'even the score' but let's be honest we are both complete "noobs" to wearing boxing gloves, so if anything come and watch us have a right good pagger for 10 minutes and at least try knock enough sense into each other not to attempt anything like this again, oh and while also fund raising for a good cause.
We have decided to try raise as much money as possible for the local Stockton and Middlesbrough Mind - the mental health charity who offer counselling and support services to anyone who experiences any mental health issues from anxiety/depressive disorders through to suicidal thoughts and self harm.
Mental health issues really are hidden killers and there is so much stigma is attached to the topic, with many people suffering in silence for fear of being ostracised or lack of support. it is estimated that 1 in 4 people in England will experience a mental health problems in their lifetime. In 2013 alone -6233 suicides were reported in the UK 78% were male and 22% female- suicide is noted as the most common cause of death for males aged 20-49 (ONS 2015)
Please all of our friends we ask that you give all you can for this great charity and the work that they do for anyone who has mental health issues and also raising awareness of these issues.
