Story
Hi, I'm Josie. While I'm not a seasoned international traveler, I've signed up to the UK Machu Picchu 2026 Student challenge. Beginning on the 26th of August 2026, this adventure begins in Cusco, finishing Ollaytaytambo on the ninth day, when I begin my 5 day excursion into the Amazon.
While an amazing experience, the more fulfilling trial is my goal to raise £4590 for Street Child UK. With a global reach of almost 1.5 million children since 2008, around 50% of this goal is donated to Street Child directly, to continue this upward trend.
This trip would also be amazing to help me further my university education, as I'm currently studying BSc Ocean Science at Plymouth. Exploring one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the most biodiverse place on Earth (the Amazon Rainforest), along with the local culture through tour guides would help me understand the hydrological cycle at a local level. Whether that be at Machu Picchu, viewing the human-environment interactions such as sustainable tourism, or to view first hand how the deforestation in the Amazon affects the Amazon River.
Any donation is greatly appreciated!
Many thanks, Josie
