Story
Hello, my name is Daniel Mann. I'm a student at York University and I'm raising money to support Amnesty International UK. Alongside this charity I'm taking on the challenge of Morocco's High Atlas Mountains.
I’m raising funds for Amnesty International, a global movement working to protect human rights wherever they are under threat.
Your donation supports work that includes:
- Fighting for prisoners of conscience (Imprisoned due to Race, Sexual orientation, Religion or Political Views.)
- Exposing human rights abuses in conflict zones
- Protecting refugees, activists, and people whose freedoms are restricted
- Challenging discrimination, torture, and unfair laws
- Campaigning for gender equality globally
- Investigate and expose human rights abuses
- Support victims and campaign for justice
- Educate and empower communities to stand up for their rights
This fundraiser is for that work to be aided in funding, and not to pay for my trip. I’m paying for my own registration; your donations go directly to Amnesty’s human rights work. The challenge is simply the catalyst that allows me to support them. Alongside other challenges I may pursue in order to increase the total raised.
This is Dr. Agnès Callamard and she is a French human-rights activist with decades of experience in NGOs and at the United Nations. She's directly responsible for the strategic direction for Amnesty, such as leading the major international investigations into human-rights abuses, including high-profile cases such as the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

What the challenge will look and may feel like:
This coming June, I’ll be taking on a 7-day trek across Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, including a summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167m) the highest peak in North Africa. It’s a demanding challenge involving long trekking days, high altitude, rocky terrain, and temperatures that range from very hot to freezing. We’ll be camping in remote mountain villages, crossing steep passes like Tizi n’ Tamatert, Tizi Likemt and Tizi n’ Ouanoums, and finishing with a dawn ascent to the summit of Mt Toubkal. I'll be doing distances of up to 15km per day, often 7–10 hours of hiking.
Alongside this main challenge I'll be doing other challenges before the summer to raise more money for the fundraising total, I'll keep the donations updated and people informed on what I'm doing along the journey.
More about me & why:
This pictures my last biggest challenge during 2024 where I really fell in love with it all, and had the idea of one day doing something of this calibre and for a charity such as Amnesty.

Hopefully I can continue to set & break challenges such as these in the future by raising more for charity. If I can make a difference by doing something I love and it benefits others in the process, that greatly pleases me.
Every donation, big or small, genuinely makes a difference.
Thank you for your generosity and belief in the cause.
