Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
To highlight the challenges people with swallowing issues face every single day, the Vale Community Resource Service (VCRS) Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) team + some fabulous MDT volunteers are modifying their diet and fluids for Swallow Awareness Day on 16th March 22 to see what it's really like - how easy it is, what are the challenges and, most importantly, what it taste's like! So, we are side-lining the sandwiches, kicking out the cornflakes and rejecting the roast potatoes in favour of soft and bite-sized, minced & moist and even pureed textures. How will we get on with our thickened cup of tea in the morning to get us going? It's going to take some thought and planning for each volunteer, it's not going to be as easy as stopping at the shop for a quick sandwich! We will be sharing the highs & lows plus pictures of our culinary delights throughout the day on social media. What will give us an extra boost though...is your support. We're taking the opportunity to raise funds for the DEC humanitarian appeal to support families in Ukraine who have had their lives turned upside-down. So sponsor us with whatever you can give, it will all be so much appreciated, and sometimes when trying to watch the news, it helps to know you've helped in any way you can to make a difference.
Thanks for your time & your donation! If you want to know more about Swallow Awareness - catch any of the SLT team in the office or visit www.iddsi.org or https://www.rcslt.org/get-involved/swallowing-awareness-day-2022/
