Hi everyone,
On the 28th June, five friends and colleagues are taking on an epic cycle challenge to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society UK.
We will be cycling from London to Paris; a three day journey, over 250 miles. The Team includes a diverse age range from 22-56, which is made up of 3 men and 2 ladies. We’ve practiced (a bit) and have a route. We are staying in some dodgy motels, will eat snails and wear lycra just to give you readers some incentive to support us.
Expect lycra, chaffing, crying and dodgy stomachs. But, not necessarily in that order.
Why it is important…
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common
cause of dementia. Affecting around 6 in every 10 people with Dementia. Currently, there are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. This figure is set to reach 2 million by the year 2050.
Whilst millions more are faced with the financial and emotional challenges of caring for a loved one with the disease.
If current trends continue, Alzheimer’s will bankrupt families, communities and our healthcare system. (£26million is the current cost of dementia in the UK).
This is why we are dedicated to help stop this devastating disease. Cycling the 250 odd miles to raise sponsorship for the Alzheimer’s Society UK.
The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia support and research charity; dedicated to finding prevention methods, treatments and an eventual cure for the disease.
We plan to raise at least £1,200 to support the Alzheimer’s Society, which helps challenge and change perceptions, funds research, improve the care and support programs to our community.
We know we can do this but we need your support. Would you please consider making a donation?
Thank you in advance for your time and generosity.
From all the team x
