We are again entering into the Leamington Spa Lions Raft Race.(come along if you can 20th June, starts in Jephson gardens)  it'll be a fun, slightly crazy day as usual!

You are probably aware,  we raise vital funds (and awareness) for Motor Neurone Disease  Association (MNDA) 

This is done in memory and respect of my lovely grandparents. 

My grandad lived with, and had a good fight with MND, he lived with it for 11 years, it never stopped him doing anything he put his mind to though! He continued to travel, mainly to The Gambia and also learnt new computer skills and enjoyed many family days out.  He retained his amazing laughter, dignity and his fabulous personality.  

MND took away his power to speak and walk, but he overcame this in many ways including using a 'lite writer' which was supplied by MNDA, this was my grandad's communication tool and was vital to his everyday life. It is (was back then) a machine you typed into and it spoke out whatever you'd typed in, (think Stephen Hawkins 'voice') a fond memory is him repeatedly changing the voice, (probably to annoy my nan!)  while on holiday, often having a child's voice telling us "it is happy hour at the bar"! 

My Nan cared for my grandad 24/7, never ever complaining she was very involved with raising funds for MNDA, and its in both of their memories and fun spirits, that we enter such a crazy event! They'd of both loved it and most definitely approved!!

Its been 11 years since we lost my Grandad and 10 since we lost my Nan. We all miss them everyday, but i like to think that they know we've carried on with what they began all those years ago and they be very approving of Team Victor's Vikings!
