Horton's Kids serves over 600 kids and their families living in Wellington Park and Stanton Oaks, two of the most under-resourced communities in all of DC. I've worked with Horton's Kids since 2012, first as a Monday night tutor alongside my HELP Committee colleagues Katie Neal and Bobby McMillin, tutoring two elementary school students Genesis and Kristian (pictured above!) in reading, writing, and math. Now that my sons Jack and Charlie take up my Monday nights, I'm supporting the the Horton's Kids community through raising awareness about their work and raising funds through their Give Thanks and Give Back Gala.
For 33 years, Horton's Kids has been fighting inequality to ensure every child graduates from high school ready to succeed in college, career, and life. The impact of these programs is dramatic: Participants who enroll in Horton's Kids programs are twice as likely to graduate from high school compared to their peers living in the same communities.
Horton's Kids has a goal to raise more than $250,000 this fall. My goal is to raise $5,000 toward this goal. I am asking you to join me and create lasting change. The money we raise together will have an immediate impact on Horton's Kids programs. Please, consider making a donation.
