NOTE BEFORE YOU DONATE
Unfortunately, a combination of unforgiving terrain and awful weather has meant we’ve had to abandon our attempt to cross scotland. The whole team is gutted that we can’t fulfill the promise we made. At about 4pm Sunday night (4th April) we made the decision to abandon the line on our gps and make our way to a bothy. The ground was much more boggy and wet than we thought, and the rain made it too dangerous to continue. Upon reaching the bothy we had to warm up one very cold team member and made the decision that trying to continue on the line the next day was a very stupid decision. We’re very sorry to everyone who donated, expecting that we would finish the challenge, but you can be assured that we have everything we had to get somewhere dry for the night, and that we will be aching for days to come.
Me and two other adventurers from across the country are teaming up to complete a challenge that has been done by few in history. Walking across Scotland in a completely straight line, overcoming rivers, fences, mountains and anything else which stand in our way on the 70km route. While initially we planned to do so just for the fun of it, we realised it would be wrong not to do our best to help the people of Ukraine who are facing untold terror everyday at the hands of their invaders.
Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing hundreds of thousands to flee. Homes have been destroyed or are unsafe to live in. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.£30 could provide essential hygiene supplies for three people for one month£50 could provide blankets for 4 families to keep them warm£100 could provide emergency food for two families for one month
