We provide care in Coventry & Warwickshire to people with a terminal illness aged 18+

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

During 2011, Dorne (my sister) was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer that had spread to her liver. After operations and chemotherapy, the cancer returned in 2012 to her liver and lungs.  After further chemotherapy and radiotherapy she was advised there was nothing more that could be done.  She carried on living life to the full, until in October 2012, she could no longer manage the pain at home and went to Myton Hospice.  There she received excellent care along with pain management.  Although she did not return home she was happy that she ended her life peacefully in their care.

We cannot thank the hospice enough for the time they spent with Dorne and my family. During 2013 we would like to show our appreciation further, by raising money for them in a variety of ways. Hopefully they will then be able to continue the good work they do for others.

THE THIRD CHALLENGE OF 2013 IS:

2 Castles 10k - 9th June

On the 9th June 2013 Zach (15) and Mike will be running the 10K from Warwick Castle to Kenilworth Castle in aide of Myton Hospice and memory of Dorne. On the same day myself and Ellen (9) will be cycling the 10K return journey from Kenilworth Castle to Warwick Castle for the same cause.  We look forward to completing this challenge :-)

The second challenge is: (completed)

Wright Hassall Leamington Regency 10k - Sunday 7th April

This is a 10k run around Leamington Spa starting just off Newbold Terrace East and finishing on the opposite side of the river from Jephson gardens. This time it is just Mike and Zach taking part from the family as this is for 'proper' runners. They are running with the newly formed Hampton Magna Harriers - https://www.facebook.com/hamptonmagnaharriers.

The first challenge we have set ourselves is: (completed 17th March, thank you for thr sponsorship and support, we raised £515 for Myton Hospice on this run)

5 mile Rugby run and Fun Run 17th March 2013

Myself and Ellen will be completing the 5 mile fun run, whilst Mike and Zach, like a challenge and will be completing the 5 mile timed run. Please could you sponsor us for this challenge and the money raised will go directly to Myton Hospice.

Myton Hospice requires in excess of £7.2 million pounds to continue to provide their services free to those in need. We may not be able to raise that amount, but every little helps.
