Waltham Forest Mayor's Memory Walk 2021 · 25 September 2021

In 2025 to 2026, the Mayor of Waltham Forest, Cllr Tony Bell, will fundraise in support of three vital, local charities; Highams Park Food Hub, Haven House and Walthamstow Wetlands. The mayor will continue his efforts to raise awareness of the importance of fellowship and nature. Thank you.

Story

The term dementia is used to describe a collection of symptoms, including changes in memory, reasoning, and communication skills, with a gradual loss of ability to carry out daily activities.  These symptoms are caused by structural and chemical changes in the brain as a result of physical diseases, such as a series of small strokes or other neurological conditions.  Dementia is a progressive condition, with symptoms becoming more severe over time.

On 25th September 2021, the Mayor of Waltham Forest will be leading a 10 km walk to raise money that will support people living with dementia and their carers in Waltham Forest.  This event is being supported by both the Dementia Hub and the Council's Sport and Leisure team, along with their trained walk volunteers.  All donations will be shared between the Waltham Forest branches of Age UK and the Alzheimer's Society.
