We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the governments decision to close the air bridge with France, this years London to Paris ride has been cancelled. But... never fear!! We are taking an even more gruelling route riding from the West Coast of the UK to the East Coast. This will mean navigating the Cumbrian Mountains, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, a far cry from the flat easy ride to Paris!

I would be very grateful for your generosity and every penny we raise goes to helping the sickest children in the country.

The hospital is the largest centre for child heart surgery in the UK and one of the largest centres for heart transplantation in the world. In 1962 they developed the first heart and lung bypass machine for children. With children's book author Roald Dahl, they developed an improved shunt valve for children with water on the brain, and non-invasive (percutaneous) heart valve replacements. They did the first UK clinical trials of the rubella vaccine, and the first bone marrow transplant and gene therapy for severe combined immunodeficiency

It is closely associated with University College London (UCL) and in partnership with the UCL Great Ormand Street Institute of Child Health, which is adjacent to it, is the largest centre for research and postgraduate teaching in children's health in Europe.

Did you know in 1929, J. M. Barrie donated the copyright to Peter Pan to the hospital!

Please support my cause, I will be putting myself through rigorous training over the next few weeks and the demands of a distance cycling despite having almost no experience prior to signing up for this.

Wish me luck and please be as generous as you can be!

All the very best, and thank you for your support.
