Story
It’s hard to imagine what it must be like to be diagnosed with a cervical cancer before you are 30. But Holly Naulin found herself in just that position. She always said she would not have got through her ordeal without the support of GO Girls – who support all women with gynaecological cancers and this year she’s giving back again to the GO Girls by running the Wimborne 10. She will be supported by Melissa Bendon and Jacqui Ives to raise as much as they can for GO Girls. She said she’s quite happy to be trailing the pack though!
So let’s tell you about her other co-pilots. Well Melissa, who works as a full-time marketing manager as the day job is a serial runner. She began running when she had her daughter 9 years ago. She loved the space running gave her – time for herself, time to think – her motto is simply “worry less, run more” and for her running for GO Girls is a great motivator.
Jacqui began running 15 years ago. I’d always been a keen swimmer. I’d had quite a bit of depression throughout my life and when I started running I found it helped keep my hormones in check and pain I had with my monthly cycles. I found a couple of tops that captured just what I felt when I began running, “Run Happy”, so I set up a Facebook page with my partner Ray. We simply called it Run Happy Dorset to share the “run happy” vibe and to promote all the local races in Dorset. I am thrilled to be raising funds for GO Girls – to help them raise awareness – the clear message seems to be earlier diagnosis saves lives and to be part of this spurs me on to do my very best for GO Girls.
