The war in Ukraine caused by the Russian invasion has shocked and devastated the entire world. It is an attack on freedom, peace and democracy. Millions are predicted to be displaced and to become refugees. Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine and we dearly hope that peace will be restored.

Women in Vision UK is keen to be part of relief efforts for those most in need! For the first stage of our support, we have launched this fundraiser to provide much needed financial help to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society who will receive any donations from the British Red Cross Society. We believe this is critical in the shorter term. The members of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society are selflessly and courageously providing medical treatment, food, clothing, hygiene products and shelter to Ukrainians who are in need. Please give what you can to make a difference in the lives of people suffering in Ukraine and to those forced to flee to other countries from Ukraine.

 WVUK has already made efforts to support Ukrainians in the UK with access to work. In the future, we aim to use our wide professional network to directly send supplies such as food, clothes, hygiene products, first aid and medical and ophthalmic equipment to help Ukrainians in need. We are also planning to develop a network of opportunities to support training fellowships both in ophthalmology and research either in the UK or within Ukraine once it is possible.
