On Friday 16th March a group of brave people will give up the comfort of their beds and sleep out under the stars to raise money to change young lives.

Story

A group of people from Wonersh Church will be sleeping out in Guildford this year to; (a) raise awareness of growing homelessness particularly in the young, and (b) to raise funds for the great work the Guildford YMCA does in our area. These include supported accommodation (e.g. 34 bed Guild Foyer brought on stream in 2017), Mentoring, and the Chaplaincy. YMCA Guildford seeks to provide a safe place to support vulnerable youngsters rebuild confidence and a sense of value through education, training and work.

This year the funds raised in Guildford will go to the “Life Change Fund” which seeks to support, engage, and inspire youngsters living in YMCA supported accommodation  turn their lives around.  This fund has special significance to Wonersh Church as it was started by a previous Wonersh vicar Rev Jeff Wattley  and church member Martin Down’s Atlantic sailing crossing.
