Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
My name is Cameron Lloyd and I am 16 years old.  At the age of 11 I had to have a life saving Liver Transplant Operation to save my life.  This opeation was performed by Professor Nigel Heaton at Kings College Hospital in London.  On 3rd November 2006 I recently celebrated my fifth anniversary since my transplant.

Eight months after my liver transplant I competed in the British Transplant Games in Loughborough and won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal and the 'Best New Transplantee Award'. Since my first British Games in 2002 I have competed in every single British Games since and have won numerous gold and silver medals for swimming.

In July 2005 I was selected out of over 500 children who compete at the British Transplant Games to represent my country at the 'World Transplant Games' in London Ontario Canada.  It was at these world games that I achieved 5 gold medals for swimming and a new world record time for the Butterfly.

I train very hard at least four times a week for anything up to one and a half hours per session with my local swimming club 'Clacton Sharks'.  I am also studying for my A levels at the Colne Community College and I also like to work out in my local gym.

I am a walking advert for how well tranplants do work, not only can they change someones life but enhance it and I am living proof that they work.  I am a positive person, I enjoy life, I work hard at college and I take my training serioulsy.

To be picked once to represent your country is amazing, but to be asked to compete for a second time is unbelievable and truly a dream come true .

I am very lucky to have received a transplant and without this, I would not be here today.  I cannot thank my Donor family enough for giving me the greatest gift of all "The Gift of Life", without their brave generosity I would not be here today, living life to the full. So PLEASE take a look at the TSUK website and sign up to be an Organ Donor today, you can make a difference to change someone's life, like someone did for me 5 years ago. !!!

In order for me and my mum and dad to travel to Thailand I need to raise lots of money and this is where I need all the help in the world. The cost to send each athlete to the WTG is £2,200, plus £1500 for each parent of the Teenage Team, so I need to try and raise £5200 and any extra will go towards helping send my other Teammates also. So please can you help !!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Transplant Sport UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support and help, I really need it.

Best Wishes

Cameron
