Domestic violence is a public health crisis, and we all know someone affected. The National Domestic Violence Hotline (The Hotline) provides survivors and their loved ones with emotional support, safety planning, and referrals to local resources. But most importantly, they provide hope for a safer future.
One survivor, now 10 years free of abuse, recently shared, "Making that first phone call to The Hotline gave me the courage to go out and get help. I now have so much hope for my future, and for my children and grandchildren. Thank you for giving me that."
Contacts to The Hotline have increased 46% since 2015, and the stress, isolation, and financial strain of COVID-19 have put survivors at even greater risk.
It's more important than ever to show survivors they're not alone. Let's ensure they can always reach an advocate who understands what they're going through and knows how to help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Together, we can keep hope on the line.
