Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Kilimanjaro in is one of the largest stratovolcanoes on earth. Situated in Africa it is the world’s highest freestanding mountain reaching 5,895m high and covering an area of 388,500ha. It is one of the world’s seven highest summits.
My challenge is to follow the Lemosho trail, ’a wilderness route’ under the supervision of ‘Global Adventure Challenges’ and reach the summit - Uhuru peak, a demanding ascent that will test me both physically and mentally, travelling through almost every eco-system known to man. I will have to overcome extremes of temperature and the problems associated with climbing at altitude.
In memory of my father, who died in 2005 after a long battle with leukaemia I have chosen to raise funds for the ascent of Kilimanjaro and support Hope House
children’s hospice in Oswestry.
Hope House opened May 1995 and more than 250 terminally ill children and their families have been cared for there. It was purpose built to cater for the special needs and requirements of children who visit from Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham area and Powys.
Their services are free of charge to the families they support. It takes £3.5 million a year to run along with it’s sister hospice ‘Ty Gobaith’ in Conwy. I am aiming to raise a minimum of £3500 to fund the ascent and support this amazing place and all the wonderful work it does.
Please help me to support this wonderful charity. Ascent has been supported by Kronospan, Chirk.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hope House Children's Hospices gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
