Story
As some if not all of you know I have had my own health problems of late but my problems pale into insignificance compared to the issues others have to face so I have decided its time to give something back, so on Sunday 24th September 2017, together with 14999 other cyclists I shall be riding in the inaugural Velo Birmingham, a closed road event. I shall be riding 100 miles from Birmingham, passing through Staffordshire and Worcestershire via Sandwell and then back to Birmingham. This is a tough event, with some hard hills to climb 1,754m of pain.
I am riding for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, to support injured servicemen and servicewomen and their families. The work done by the QE Hospital for injured service personnel and their families is far beyond the scope of the usual NHS work, and rely on charitable funding to continue.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity supports patients and families at one of the UK’s largest hospitals, including wounded UK military personnel and children with cancer. From groundbreaking research to world-leading cancer equipment, the Charity provides ‘added extras’ that go over and above what the NHS can fund.
