Some facts:
Every year in Northern Ireland around 4,000 people suffer a stroke - that’s 11 people every day.
Over 6,000 people a year in Northern Ireland die from chest, heart and stroke illnesses
Nearly 2,000 people with chest, heart and stroke illnesses and their families were supported by NICHS in 2008/09.

NICHS is leading the fight against chest, heart and stroke illnesses in NI. We provide support for people affected, and work to prevent these illnesses by delivering health checks and health promotion programmes, funding research and campaigning for improved care, treatment and awareness.
