So, we are taking part in a Great Wall of China trek in October 2011, along with a huge number of Barclays colleagues in aid of the Christie and Elise for Life and we need YOUR support. 

A bit of background information... Elise for Life is a campaign set up by Barclays colleague Elise Roberts and her husband Mark after Elise was diagnosed with cancer in January 2010. 

Elise sadly passed away on 4th October but her fight continues to touch so many people. Elise was a huge inspiration to everyone who came into contact with her and in her own special way, she was determined to turn this experience into a positive one, and raise £1m for The Christie hospital who are so fantastic. The people who take on this trek, and the hundreds who sponsor them, will positively affect the lives of thousands. All funds raised for the Christie will be split equally between Melanoma Research, and the Derek Crowther Clinical Trials Unit. A hard-hitting stat for you - It’s a fact that 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with Cancer at some stage in their life. 

On the basis of those statistics, we will all know someone who has, is,  or will be unlucky enough to be that 1.
