This is not me in costume - it’s Boatswain. He hung up his running shoes a few years ago but has the advantage of being more photogenic and appealing!

That’s important because this year I am appealing to you to support MacMillan. They do a great job of supporting folks suffering or recovering from cancer. Two years ago they looked after my mother-in-law suffering from cancer of the oesophagus. She is still with us and will be 96 next month.

Sadly two close friends not more than half her age died from cancer this year. It is with them in mind that I am running in this year’s GNR on behalf of a cancer charity.

I hope you will agree that donations to an organisation that helps people fighting this terrible disease is a good cause and that you will give accordingly.
