Story
Gloria Cattini
4th July 1958 - 23rd June 2006
Gloria was born to Vic and Lina Abretti on 4th July 1958 in Kings Cross, London . The family moved to Finchley in 1965 and Gloria attended St Theresa’s and St Michael’s schools. When she left school she joined the Civil Service and worked in the Lord Chancellor’s Department beginning an association with legal work which she continued until the late 1990’s.
Gloria and her husband decided to emigrate to in 1988 and whilst there, Gloria was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1993 at the age of 35. She accepted the diagnosis with a positive attitude never once giving in or losing hope. When her condition deteriorated rapidly in September 2000, she decided to come back to London and arrived in February 2001 following the Italian community’s incredibly generous response to fund-raising. Surrounded and supported by family and friends, she received excellent care at the Marie Foster Centre until she developed a chest infection from which she never recovered.
Gloria’s life exceeded all expectations – she had so many people who supported her, prayed for her and loved her both near and far. She coped with a cruel illness with courage, an incredible faith and an ever ready smile.
Gloria leaves an incredible legacy of love, faith, courage and inspiration to her family and to everyone who knew her.
All of her family would like to thank the many people who sent messages of sympathy, Mass cards, flowers or donations for the Marie Foster Centre in her memory. Most of all, we would like to thank the staff, volunteers, visitors and her many friends at the Centre for helping to make her time there the very best it could possibly be.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
