During the May Bank Holiday weekend 2010, the Soar Centurions
will be cycling the route of , covering
175 miles as it crosses from the to the ,... they fully expect to be very Sore Centurions by the end!
The aim of this two and a half day cycle challenge is to
raise money for Rainbows Children's Hospice in Loughborough and the Nottinghamshire
Hospice – both of which are dedicated to providing the best possible palliative
care for life limited people and their families.
If not refer the
reader to the links on the Left hand side of the page for more info.
Anything you can donate to these worthy hospices through
sponsorship of our cycle challenge will be greatly appreciated.
The Soar Centurions are Dave Baker, Justin Sorby, Laurence
Burke and Chris White and with an average age north of 40 you could be forgiven
for thinking this is a sign of four mid-life crises! But not only does this event promise to test
the endurance of four people in possession of just three good knees between
them, it will also throw down an equally tough test of their ability to
tolerate each other’s company over three long days and nights. This aspect of the event is going to be particularly
challenging for Chris and Dave, who will be happy to accept your sponsorship
money for combining the stiffest hill climbs with their possible world record
attempt for non-stop bickering. The
successful completion of this world record attempt is only likely to be
hampered by Justin or Laurence pushing one or both of them off the highest
peak.
Once again please consider giving generously... if we raise
enough money we will attempt the whole ride dressed as Roman soldiers. The chaffing doesn’t bare thinking about!
And we will publish the pictures!!!!!!!
