Call us crazy but we Sarah, Andy, Zoe and Vinny are embarking on a journey of a lifetime (in the name of charity I hasten to add!) to get ourselves from Cochin in South India to Himalayas in Sikkim. And we plan to cover the 2000km of undulating terrain by the 3-wheeled power of the motorised Tuk-Tuk, in March 2010.

We are team 'The Mother Tuk-ers' - and are looking for your support to raise £1000 for MercyCorps to help the families affected by the earthquake that struck in Haiti this month (Jan 2010).

Mercy Corps’ experienced, crisis-tested emergency team is on the ground in Port-au-Prince, responding to the 7.0-magnitude earthquake that rocked Haiti.

They need your help to speed clean water, food, shelter and other supplies to families in the aftermath of the worst disaster to strike the region in years. The needs are enormous.

The affected area, home to three million people, has suffered catastrophic damage — eyewitnesses describe the aftermath as “total disaster” and chaos. Haitian government officials are estimating death tolls in the thousands, and thousands more are living in the ruined streets of the country's capital.

Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, is plagued by hunger and political instability. This disaster will drastically increase the needs of families who had little to lose in the first place.

Mercy Corps has a long history of helping earthquake survivors meet their immediate needs and recover what they've lost. We aided families after earthquakes in Peru in 2007, China and Pakistan in 2008, and Indonesia last year.

It would be great if you can support this for us and we will keep you posted with our progress up until and during the adventure. Your help and support in raising the funds will keep us going when our bums are so numb we want to give up!
