Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
The main reason for undertaking this challenge is in memory of one of my best mates who passed away unexpectedly in 2006. He was a fan of cycle tours, of which we had completed a few, some greater than others, (most within the shire!). We had talked about doing Lands End to John O'Groats for some time. I therefore decided that I absolutely had to complete it.
The choice of charity for which I shall be raising funds was easy. Katharine House Hospice, our local care centre, is beyond a worthwhile cause. They do an amazing job day in day out, and are constantly grateful for all help received.
The challenge I have set myself is to ride solo, unassisted and use no type of accommodation whether from friends, relatives, hotels or even campsites. I intend to 'rough it' but use my limited charm, if needed, to secure a camping spot for the night..... maybe a wash once in a while also...
The route I will take will not be the standard direct as possible route most other 'lejog' riders take as I plan to make final decisions on a day to day basis, for this reason I have no set completion date (sorry to all sweepstake fans). I do expect to complete it in 14-18 days.
My departure date will be Friday 1st May 2009 from The Bell Inn(to mums car!) leaving Lands End the following day.
I will be funding the entire cost of the challenge myself and so 100% of all donations will go to Katharine House in its entirety..

through support and fondness the wind has to be on my back.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Katharine House Hospice Trust, Adderbury, Oxfordshire gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
