Story
So, I have four exciting months ahead of gruelling training pretty much every day - running through British winter time of rain, wind, sleet, snow... I'm wondering why I dedicated the next few months to achieving the toughest challenge of my life so far, beating the 3 peaks, skydiving, and the memorable time kayaking with hippo's in Africa's zambezi!!
I'm running the London Marathon 2009 in memory of my Dad, Chris Humphris, who I lost five years ago. It makes me sad to know he won't be there to walk me down the aisle when I (finally!!) get married, but would mean everything to me to cross the finish line having raised money for a worthwhile charity knowing he would be proud.
My chosen charity supports a cause that is very close to my heart, mental health. Its a cause that, in my eyes is not at the forefront of charitable giving perhaps due to the stigma that surround people that are affected. The sad truth is though, that 1 in 4 of us will be affected by some kind of mental health problem in the course of a year. My charity, Rethink carries out invaluable work providing support, information and services to those affected, as well as research and campaigning for greater awareness and understanding.
I would be incredibly grateful if you could help me in raise money for this amazing charity. No matter how large or small the donation, your support will mean so much.
