Story
Hi, thanks for visiting my page!
NOTE: Event date Sunday 24th June
I have now SUCCESSFULLY completed the paddle ie in the words of fellow paddler Ray Pearce, 'I finished the race, didn't fall in and didn't come last (39/50)' .
Thank you to the fantastic people who have sponsored me already. If you haven't, it is not too late; please read on................... [Howard - I don't like to move the goal posts but I really think now I could make a £1000!]
I had never heard of Myeloma when I went to see my doctor in July 2006. My severe anaemia was quickly diagnosed and I started treament for Myeloma soon afterwards. I had high dose chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant in December, spending Christmas in hospital, but 6 months later I am back at work and starting to pick up leisure activities including Canoeing.
On 24th June I paddled for Banbury and District Canoe Club in the Reading Circuits Race - Div 9, singles. A race of 4 miles and my first race since treatment.
My campaign is as much about raising awareness of Myeloma as it is about raising money but if you would like to sponsor me donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Myeloma UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Hilary
