Story

UPDATE: 12th July 2008

Thank you for your continued support of Ian and Barry Goodridge's quest to raise money for Brain Tumour UK, in memory of their father Graham, who died from a tumour in June 2007.

The good news is that we have now completed the British 10k in London, finishing in respectible times of 49 mins (Barry) and 65 mins (Ian).  The weather on 6th July was showery and about 19 degrees, perfect running conditions really.  We successfully met up at the start and were ably assisted by cousin Ruth who was using the race as preparation for her participation in the Berlin marathon later in the year.  We joined the other 24,997 runners in the queue for the start at Hyde Park Corner and then had to wait 30 mins before we actually crossed the start line.

We proceeded downhill, past the Ritz Hotel and Trafalgar Square before reaching the Thames embankment and following the river downstream until we were opposite the Tate Bankside, where we turned and headed back towards Westminster bridge.  Having crossed this in both directions, we then sped around Parliament Square, encouraged by family and friends, before arriving at the finishing line in Whitehall.  All three of us were chuffed with our achivement and we know that Dad would have been very proud.

It was certainly an incentive knowing that so many friends, family and colleagues had already pledged their support and we are very pleased to announce that we have now exceeded our target of £3000.  However, there is still some collecting of monies to do and this site will remain 'live' for a few months more yet so there is a while longer to encourage others to sponsor us and raise our fund even further.

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

Ian and Barry Goodridge are running for Brain Tumour UK in the London 10k on 6th July 2008 and we'd like your support.

As some of you will know, we lost our father to a brain tumour in June 2007.  Graham, a fit and very active 66-year old, had battled with the disease for 6 months.  To be honest, we're still in a state of shock but we feel the time is right to do something positive and raise money for a charity which aims to help those touched by brain tumours and to research the causes and cures of this cancer.

There is certainly a lot to do.  Click here for some facts and figures about the challenges faced.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Brain Tumour UK will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.

Please donate generously.

Many thanks for your support.

Ian & Baz
