Story
Ian on a bike
I did it! Thank you very much for your support and sponsorship. It was a great adventure, although I am still sore in certain unmentionable places. Between 14 and 20 Feb, we cycled ~ 300 miles from Ho Chi Min City in Vietnam to Anghor Wat in Cambodia, stopping for a day at the Cambodian orphanage, for which we raised money.
The day at the orphanage was a real highlight. The children were delightful. Numbers have grown rapidly and so the accommodation is insufficient. As a consequence the older boys sleep in an open-sided but roofed building and the little girls sometimes sleep two to a bunk bed. The new building will act as a dormitory and a school room. Security is still an issue. Orphaned children are very vulnerable to sex-traffickers. One child was stolen but the leaders managed to buy him back for $50. Unfortunately, not all such stories end happily.
All the money you have given to date and I continue to collect will go towards the new building. Builders started work on 22 Feb although some more funds will need to be raised to complete the work. Thanks again for all your help towards this very worthy cause.
