Story
Well we've only gone and done it!! We both ran the Flora London Marathon today and we both finished! I finished in 5:09:20 and mum finished in 5:30:00. It was pretty hot and everyone sweltered in the balmy heat but we took it easy and enjoyed the atmosphere. The Macmillan crowd support was amazing and really carried us along with all their cheering!
In 2000 my dad was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. Chemotherapy and operations followed but sadly he died early 2001. Along the way he and my mum were offered support by Macmillan at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup. My mum's always talked about how helpful and friendly Macmillan's were and how nice it was to be able to take refuge in their centre at the hospital. Now we'd like to give something back.
Mum has also had her own battle with mouth cancer and had two major operations in the autumn just last year. Despite this she's determined to run again this year!
