Hi, I'm Alex Saary and work as a golf professional.
I'm 30 years old and last year two of my best friends lost their mothers to brain cancer. In both cases my friends dropped everything in their lives (including their careers) to care for their mum's needs so that they could spend their last few months at home surrounded by the people closest to them. The care at some stages was 24/7 around the clock stuff.
The sacrifices they made were heroic, courageous, and to me totally inspiring. I'm therefore looking for a way to channel that inspiration to help others who might be in that situation in the future.
I am running for Iain Rennie Hospice because I know the fine work that the nurses do. I hope to raise £2000 plus. This will be my first attempt at the full marathon (although I did a half marathon six years ago) and will be aiming for a time of sub 3:30. I am currently in serious training in order to achieve this.
