Story
What many of you will not know is that I have NEVER run further than
10 miles in my entire life. And I've set myself a target time of 4hrs :
which I am reliably informed is the average for someone my age. Fairly
ambitious, but I'm doing it for an incredibly worthwhile cause which is
very close to my heart.
A few years ago, a great family friend was diagnosed with MS, and in early 2009 my manager at IBM was also diagnosed. Both have
demonstrated tremendous strength and bravery in living with the
symptoms, and have inspired me to run to raise money for other sufferers.
So please take the time to find some loose change and donate. I'll also be getting in touch with you all about other events I'm organising to raise even more!
Some facts about MS:
- It is the most common disease of the central nervous system affecting young adults.
- More than 85,000 people in the UK have multiple sclerosis. A study in 2009 suggested it may be about 100,000.
- Itis a disease affecting the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord)
- Symptoms can come and go and can vary greatly in terms of severity.
- At present, there is no cure for MS but this certainly doesn't mean that the symptoms of MS cannot be treated
