Until the end of last year St Lukes was a charity neither Jamie or I were particularly aware of, let alone experienced any of the services provided, so in case you are in a similar boat, I’ll take a minute to briefly explain a little about the charity.

St Lukes is a charity that cares for people aged 18 and above throughout Sheffield who have terminal illnesses. They aim to control their symptoms, alleviate pain, and give them the best possible quality of life – all free of charge

Towards the end of last year Jamie and I (along with many of our family members and friends) became truly acquainted with St Lukes, more often that not spending hours there on a daily basis. It was during this time that we experienced all of the fantastic care and support St Lukes offered not only to Jamie’s dad Andrew and my Grandad Colin, but also to us and our families. In what was truly a deeply sad and devastating time in our lives we are so thankful we are also able to look back at that time and also remember many, many moments of comfort, support, camaraderie and even laughter and happiness. All of which is a true reflection of the amazing charity and all the staff at St Lukes.

As we now look forward to approach the next chapter in our lives both Jamie and I feel incredibly fortunate to have amazing family and friends and a beautiful home and life. We have therefore decided that instead of a traditional wedding gift list or donations of money, should you want to give us a gift, the best gift you could give to us would be to donate to this incredible charity that will forever remain close to our hearts.
