Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
To all those generous souls who sponsored me in my first Marathon attempt last year – yes, I did manage to get across the finishing line before the road sweepers – a huge thank you!! Your kind support and magnificent pledges meant that I was able to raise a whopping £3000.
And because I enjoyed it so much...I am back for more punishment in 2009. This time, I am not only looking to complete the 26 miles, but, apparently, I am committed to try and run under four hours. I think I owe it to myself to meet this new challenge, especially after making the turn at Buckingham Palace last year with 500 metres to go, only to be overtaken by a man who had dribbled a basketball around the entire course and beaten me in the process.
Now to the serious part, raising much needed funds for the British Red Cross. This year my target is £2000 – a tall order given the economic climate and how hard it has hit us all. But the vital work of the British Red Cross doesn’t end with economic cycles. They continue to aid people in crisis, where ever they are around the world. Fighting causes, such as the outbreak of cholera in Zimbabwe, a country I love dearly; providing relief aid in Gaza, Darfur and Ethopia or tackling emergencies here at home. Your support is what makes running a marathon such a fulfilling experience.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Red Cross will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! Your encouragement will spur me on to achieve my goal of completing the London Marathon and raising as much money as possible for the British Red Cross.
Many thanks in advance for your support and I hope this finds you well.
James
