Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. On 22nd April I am running the London Marathon for the sheer challenge, fun and to raise money for the Association for Glycogen Storage Disease (UK).

This is a cause close to my family s heart as my Dad has suffered with a form of this disease for the last 20 years. The main symptoms, in my Dad’s case, are slow loss of skeletal muscle power which has ultimately resulted in him being confined to a wheelchair with my Mum as main carer. The form my Dad has (GSD Type V) is fortunately pretty rare but can strike both young and old and while it is not life threatening in itself it is certainly life changing for both the sufferer and those that literally and physically care for the sufferer.

I am aiming to raise £2,620 for this cause (inclusive of gift aid). That is £100 for each mile run. As a result of a generous friend of the family (25%), my Dad (25%) and Victoria, Lily & myself (10%) I have managed to get agreement to a multiplier donation system. That is we will match your donations by 60%. What this means is that every £1 you give will mean approx £2 going to AGSD (UK) – i.e. £1 extra from us and the government!

Obviously donating through this site is simple and easy. Please make sure you leave your address details when donating as that is the way we can claim gift aid which all helps towards the total.

I have been training solidly for 5 months (up to 30 miles a week) to make sure I run a quick time so I won’t let you, myself or the charity down! It’s gonna hurt!!

Now to your bit. Let’s be having you!!!!! Thanks for all your support and donations.

Will keep you updated with progress. James
